If there is no decent repairer near you, you can still get your phone fixed properly without paying for freight. Aussie Mobile Phone Repairs runs two free options from our Brisbane workshop: a reply-paid postal service, where we cover the postage in and return your device by Express Post, and a free courier pickup and delivery service that collects from your door. Total turnaround is generally 12 to 72 hours depending on where you are, and you only pay once the repair is finished.
Key takeaways
- Free postal repairs use a reply-paid address, so you pay nothing to send your phone in, and every device goes back by Express Post.
- Free courier pickup usually collects the same or next business day and returns within 24 hours, at no extra cost.
- Turnaround is 12 to 72 hours end to end; post-in repairs are usually completed and sent back the same day they land in the workshop.
- You pay only after the repair is done, by credit card, bank transfer or ZipPay. Afterpay cannot be processed remotely.
- The free service excludes web specials, phone unlocking, non-genuine repairs, computer repairs, ZipPay customers and hourly-rate repairs, where a $30 surcharge applies.

Which should you choose: free courier or free post?
Choose the courier if you are in South East Queensland or one of the other states our booking form covers, and you would rather hand the phone to a driver than queue at the post office. Choose reply-paid post if you are regional, remote, or outside courier coverage, because Australia Post reaches everywhere and the cost to you is still zero.
| Free courier pickup | Free reply-paid post | |
|---|---|---|
| Coverage | Stated as South East QLD, with other locations by arrangement. The courier booking form accepts NSW, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC and ACT | Anywhere in Australia |
| Collection | Courier collects from your address, usually same or next day | You post it in using our reply-paid address, we cover the postage |
| Return | Back to you within 24 hours of the repair | Express Post |
| Booking | Online form; credit card details required | Online booking, then print the confirmation label |
| Timing | Monday to Friday, business hours only | Whenever you can reach a post box or post office |
| Insurance | Courier insurance covers collected items up to $1,000 | Registered post recommended for tracking and cover |
| Watch for | $15 fee applies to futile pickups or re-bookings | Add your own packaging |
The courier cannot phone you before arriving, so someone needs to be at the address during business hours on the day you nominate. That is the single most common reason a customer cops the $15 futile-pickup fee: nobody home, or the device not ready at the counter. If you are booking a workplace pickup, leave the packed device with reception and tell them it is going out.

How does the free postal repair actually work, step by step?
You book online, we email you a confirmation, you post the phone to our reply-paid address, we repair it and Express Post it back. In practice:
- Book through the free postal service page and tell us the model and the fault.
- Wait for the confirmation email. During business hours this normally lands within an hour, and it carries the address label you print.
- Pack the phone (see below) and either print the label or hand-write the reply-paid address on the outside of the parcel.
- Lodge it. Registered post is worth it for the tracking and insurance on the leg we do not control.
- We assess and repair, usually the same day it arrives, then call or email you with the total.
- You pay by credit card, bank transfer or ZipPay, and it goes straight back on Express Post.
Once your device is in our hands it is insured. The gap in cover is the leg between your post box and our workshop, which is exactly why we push registered post rather than a plain parcel.
What should you do before you send your phone anywhere?
Back it up, then strip the device down to just the hardware we need. Run through this before it goes in the satchel:
- Back up to iCloud, Google or a computer. Screen repairs rarely touch data, but a phone with liquid damage or a dead board may not survive assessment.
- Note the IMEI. Dial *#06# and write it down, or find it in Settings. It is your proof of ownership and it identifies your handset if anything goes astray in transit.
- Turn off Find My iPhone / activation lock, or supply the passcode as arranged with us. We cannot test a repaired phone we cannot get past the lock screen, and an activation-locked device can stall the whole job.
- Remove the SIM and any SD card. SIMs are easy to lose in a workshop and SD cards hold data you would rather keep at home.
- Take off the case and screen protector. They add bulk, and the protector is coming off during the repair anyway. If you want a new one fitted, ask about a tempered glass screen protector while it is with us.
- Photograph the device front, back and both edges before you pack it. Two minutes now settles any question later about a scratch or a dinted corner.

How should you pack it so it survives Australia Post?
Original box if you still have it, otherwise a padded bubble mailer with the phone wrapped so it cannot slide around. The failure mode we see is a phone in a plain satchel with nothing around it: a cracked screen that arrived as a shattered one, with loose glass inside the frame. That turns a straightforward screen job into a longer clean-up.
Write the reply-paid address clearly on the outside of the parcel, or use the label from your confirmation email. Do not send computers or laptops through this service.
How long will you actually be without your phone?
Budget 12 to 72 hours all up, driven mostly by where you are rather than by the repair itself. Most repairs are done in about an hour once the phone is on the bench, and around 95% of screen replacements are finished within an hour; back glass takes about 90 minutes. Repairs can take longer on weekends.
Post-in devices are usually repaired and sent back the same day they arrive, so the clock is really Australia Post’s. A Sydney or Melbourne customer on Express Post is often looking at a couple of days each way. Regional Western Australia or the Territory sits at the far end of that range. Courier customers in South East Queensland get the fastest run: collected same or next business day, back within 24 hours.
What is excluded, and what will you actually pay?
The free courier and postal services do not apply to web specials, phone unlocking, non-genuine repairs, computer repairs, ZipPay customers or hourly-rate repairs. On those jobs a $30 surcharge applies to cover the freight. We would rather put that in plain sight than have you discover it at payment time.
Payment happens after the repair is complete, never before. Remotely we can take credit card, bank transfer or ZipPay. Afterpay cannot be processed remotely, so if you want to use Afterpay you will need to come into one of our Brisbane stores. ZipPay is available remotely, but note ZipPay customers fall inside the $30 surcharge group above.
Repair pricing itself is the same whether you post it or walk it in. Our price list covers the main models, with iPhone screens from $95, Samsung from $110, Google Pixel from $129 and iPad from $99. All prices are indicative and subject to visual inspection, which for a mail-in job means we confirm the quote after the device lands, before we start. For a fuller breakdown of what moves the number, see our guide to what it actually costs to fix a phone screen in Brisbane.
What warranty applies when the repair happens 2,000 km away?
The same one that applies in store. Repairs using genuine, original or OEM parts carry our lifetime parts guarantee, with labour potentially chargeable depending on the age of the repair. Repairs using high-quality non-genuine or copy parts carry a 3 month warranty. Warranty is void where there is physical damage, liquid ingress, mistreatment or third-party tampering. T&Cs apply.
We use genuine and/or original parts where possible, and a clearly-labelled cheaper copy option is available on request. Being remote does not push you onto lesser parts. You choose, we tell you which one you are getting, and the warranty follows that choice.
Worth knowing separately: using an independent repairer does not strip your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. We cover that in detail in our explainer on whether a third-party phone repair voids your warranty in Australia.
What proof is there that the logistics side works?
Aussie Mobile Phone Repairs has been repairing phones since 2009, more than 15 years, and is a preferred supplier to over 100 Australian schools as well as an approved OneSchool supplier, with free pickup and return on those jobs. Schools send batches of damaged iPads across terms and need them back in classrooms fast, which is the same pipeline your single handset travels through. If you are with a school, see our school iPad and tablet repair program.
We also run two physical Brisbane stores, so there is a real workshop and real staff behind the reply-paid address, not a PO box:
- Mt Gravatt: Shop 5/1484 Logan Road, Mount Gravatt QLD 4122. (07) 3849 7035. Mon-Fri 8:30am-5:00pm, Sat 8:30am-2:00pm, closed Sunday.
- Capalaba: Kiosk 21, Capalaba Central Shopping Centre, Moreton Bay Road, Capalaba QLD 4157. (07) 3245 4662. Mon-Fri 9:00am-5:30pm, Sat 9:00am-4:00pm, closed Sunday.
Frequently asked questions
Do I pay anything to send my phone in?
No. The postal service uses a reply-paid address, so we cover the postage in, and the courier pickup is free. The return trip is Express Post, also covered. The exceptions are the excluded categories above, where a $30 surcharge applies.
What if the courier turns up and I am not there?
A $15 fee applies to futile pickups and to re-bookings. Pickups are Monday to Friday during business hours and the courier cannot call ahead, so nominate a day when someone will be at the address all day.
Is my phone insured while it is in transit?
Courier insurance covers collected items up to $1,000, and your device is insured once we are handling it. For items you post yourself, use registered post so you have tracking and cover on that leg.
Can I use Afterpay for a mail-in repair?
No. Afterpay cannot be processed remotely. For a remote repair you can pay by credit card, bank transfer or ZipPay, and ZipPay jobs sit inside the $30 surcharge group. Afterpay is available in store.
Why do you need my credit card details to book a courier?
Credit card details are required at booking to secure the pickup slot and cover the $15 futile-pickup or re-booking fee if it applies. The repair itself is only charged once it is complete and you have approved the quote.
Can you repair a laptop or computer this way?
No. Please do not send computers or laptops through this service.
Will you tell me the price before you start?
Yes. Listed prices are indicative and subject to visual inspection, so once your device arrives we assess it, confirm the total with you, and only proceed once you agree.
